Boys basketball: David Olds helps NWC shock Colfax

David Olds led four players in double figures with 18 points and Northwest Christian took control with a 20-12 third-quarter run to beat Colfax 67-59 at the District 7 2B tournament Saturday in Reardan.

The win gave the Crusaders a spot in the regional tournament, which begins on Feb. 16.

NWC’s Asher Cox added 17 points, Ryan Ricks had 16 points and nine rebounds and Nathan Sander added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Crusaders (17-5) made 11 of 14 fourth-quarter free throws.

Kasey Johnson poured in a game-high 20 points to lead the Bulldogs (19-3), who will play Wilbur-Creston in a loser-out game on Tuesday.

Northwest Christian will play Liberty in Thursday’s district title game to decide the top two seeds to regionals.

Liberty 79, St. George’s 35: Match Burnham had 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists as the Lancers (20-2) earned a spot in the District 7 2B title game with a rout of the Dragons (12-10). Kyle King added 18 points and Clay Fleming chipped in 17 for Liberty, which opened the game on a 21-5 run. Felix Tsai and Cody Peplinski combined for 23 points for St. George’s, which will play Lind-Ritzville/Sprague in a loser-out game on Tuesday.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 53, Reardan 43: Cort Ruzicka had 16 points and eight rebounds as the Broncos (13-9) staved off elimination with a win over the Indians (10-12) at the District 7 2B tournament. LRS opened the game on an 18-7 run. Brandon Reuben and Dan Peone scored 16 points apiece for Reardan, which was eliminated.

Wilbur-Creston 78, Davenport 50: Dorian Jaeger and Colton Magers scored 19 points apiece and Garet Townsend added 15 points and nine rebounds as the Wildcats (15-7) kept their season alive with a District 7 2B win over the Gorillas (9-13). Wilbur-Creston made 11 3-pointers and pulled away with a 23-8 third-quarter run. Nathan Hopkins and Austin Zeller scored 16 points apiece for Davenport, which was eliminated.

Inland Empire 5A

Post Falls 71, Coeur d’Alene 65 (OT): Max McCullough scored a game-high 22 points and the Trojans (19-1, 5-0) withstood the Vikings’ late charge and won in Post Falls. Coeur d’Alene (11-7, 2-4) used a 17-6 fourth-quarter run to force overtime. Dalton Thompson added 17 points for Post Falls and Joe Naccarato led the Vikings with 21 points.

Lake City 56, Lewiston 48: Joe Pasquale hit four 3s and scored 24 points and the Timberwolves (9-9, 3-3) came from behind to beat the host Bengals (5-10, 1-4). After giving up 17 third-quarter points, Lake City limited Lewiston to seven points in the fourth.

North Star

Kootenai 49, Clark Fork 25: Anthony Keogh scored 19 points and Morgan Willms added 13 points and five rebounds as the Warriors raced past the Wampus Cats in Harrison. Clark Fork’s Geoffry Boudousquie tallied a team-high seven points.

Northeast 1B

Selkirk 45, Northport 41: Logan Miller’s 3-pointer with 4 minutes left gave the Rangers (12-8) a lead they wouldn’t relinquish in a come-from-behind victory over the visiting Mustangs (9-11). Cole Dawson scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds and Dominic Cain added 15 points and seven boards as Selkirk erased a 12-point third-quarter deficit. Northport’s Lino Belli led all scorers with 20 points.

Cusick 77, Republic 63: Alec Bluff scored 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds and the Panthers (12-8) slowly pulled away and beat the visiting Tigers (9-10). Chad Browneagle added 17 points and 12 rebounds for Cusick. Republic’s Aaron Fritts scored 19 of his team-high 23 points in the first half and Angelo Rivera added 21.

Curlew 75, Inchelium 61: Coby Grumbach poured in a game-high 35 points to power the Cougars (15-4) past the host Hornets (3-14). Gunner Brown added 20 points for Curlew, which pulled away with a 23-4 third-quarter run. Inchelium’s Quentin Holford tallied a team-best 21 points, marking the fifth time in the past six games that he’s scored 20 or more.

Wellpinit 70, Columbia 31: Alfonso Salinas scored 16 points and the Redskins (16-4) routed the Lions (0-19) in Hunters. Jason Holt added 11 points for Wellpinit, which opened the game on a 26-5 run. A.J. Ramirez led Columbia with 15 points.

Odessa-Harrington 65, Valley Christian 32: Carsen Weber scored 15 points, Shane Whitaker had 14 and Sam Schafer added 13 as the Titans (11-9) dumped the host Panthers (3-15). Valley’s Christian’s James Segalla tallied a team-high 14 points.
