Obituary: Dunlap, Edith Irene Taylor (Harriman)

Age 86

DUNLAP, Edith Irene Taylor (Harriman) (Age 86) March 10, 1928 to January 1, 2015 Edith was born March 10, 1928, in Leola, Arkansas, to Roy and Karma Taylor.

She moved, with her family, to Omak, WA when she was two years old and graduated from Omak High School.

She attended the University of Washington then married Stan Harriman of Omak.

They raised three children, Jan, Jeff and Kim.

Edith was very active in Camp Fire, Boy Scouts, PTA and the Ghost Riders Horse Club, as well as many other activities.

She worked for Ladds Photography studio in Omak.

In 1968, after their divorce, Edith moved to Spokane, Washington, married Dr. James P. Dunlap and welcomed his three children, Steve, Carol and Rob to the family.

In Spokane, she became “Edie” to her friends and Grandma Edie to her grandchildren.

Edie pursued her passion for art, taking classes and entering art competitions.

She was always curious to discover the many facets that art encompassed and found water color to be her medium of choice.

She won many art competitions and exhibited her paintings in several galleries and with organizations, including the Ronald McDonald House and the Civic and InterPlayers theaters.

She was also among the artists chosen to paint one of the Spokane bears that were displayed and donated to local charities.

She and her husband, Jim, loved exploring and traveling the world.

They were instrumental in the Wampum organization and Edie participated in several Ham on Regal performances at Ferris High School.

She was a past president of the Spokane Water Color Society.

a member of the Montana Watercolor Society and active in the Spokane County Medical Society Auxiliary.

Edie is preceded in death by her first husband, Stan Harriman; husband, Dr. James Dunlap; her parents and two brothers, Roy and Dorman Taylor.

She is survived by a sister, Francis Reynolds of Clarkston, WA; children, Jan (Dennis) Schuerman of Mead, WA; Jeff (Margaret) Harriman of Johnstown, OH; Kim Harriman of Tonasket, WA; Steve (Penny) Dunlap of Boise, ID; and Rob (Alison) Dunlap of Sandy, UT; grandchildren, Alex Schuerman, Nick Schuerman, Staci Hazelbaker, Elizabeth Oliver, Brad Harriman, Rocky Harriman, Maria Errico, Matt Harriman, Anne Rossi, Kate Barnes, Ryli Dunlap, Kinzie Johnson, Mori Dunlap, and Breydi Dunlap, 22 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Edie will be held February 21, 2015, at 2pm at Christ’s Church of Mt.

Spokane, 5601 E. Peone Rd.

Mead, WA.
