Suspected motorcycle gang member injured in chase

A suspected motorcycle gang member is in the hospital and two others face eluding charges after the group allegedly fled from a Washington State Patrol trooper early Thursday morning. Tyler W. Dailey, 27, of Spokane Valley is in critical condition at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center after crashing his motorcycle on North Foothills Drive near Pittsburg Street shortly after midnight Thursday. WSP spokesman Trooper Jeff Sevigney said Dailey and three other men were speeding on the road when a trooper attempted to stop them. When the trooper activated his lights to pull the group over, the four men accelerated. The trooper clocked the motorcyclists at speeds topping 70 miles per hour, according to court documents. As the men sped west on Euclid Avenue from Market Street, three of them slowed down for a curve in the road. Dailey, however, accelerated and lost control. He was ejected from his motorcycle when it hit the curb. The trooper reported smelling the “obvious odor of intoxicants” on Dailey’s breath, according to court documents. He faces driving under the influence and eluding charges. Sevigney said troopers were able to locate and arrest two of the other men later Thursday morning. Scott R. Henry, 34, and Ricky W. Jenks, 37, both face eluding charges. The fourth member of the group is still at large. All four men are believed to have ties to outlaw motorcycle gangs, Sevigney said. Henry’s bond was set at $5,000 during a brief court appearance Thursday afternoon. Jenks is set to appear in court Friday. He requested a one day postponement of his court appearance so his own attorney could be present. Jenks has twice been indicted on federal charges related to his involvement in the Hells Angels Motorcycle Gang, most recently in 2011. He also pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the 2001 killing of a Spokane Valley man, according to newspaper records. Dailey was sentenced to 90 days in jail in December 2013 for driving under the influence. Henry has an extensive history in Benton County, mostly for traffic infractions that include driving with a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle without insurance. In 2008 he was charged with disorderly conduct and provoking assault. The charges were deferred and then dismissed in 2009 after Henry complied with his release conditions. He is currently on probation for a December conviction for third-degree possession of stolen property in Benton County.
