Senators wrong on immigration
Sens. Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray, both Democrats, voted against HR 240. Their nay votes on the House-passed Department of Homeland Security spending bill is disappointing. Instead of standing with jobless Americans and voting to fund DHS, they have decided to support amnesty and jobs for illegal immigrants. I hope our senators will support American workers and vote in favor of HR 240 the next time it is brought to the Senate floor.
President Obama’s executive actions on immigration will allow an estimated 5 million illegal immigrants to compete for newly created jobs in the improving economy. This puts an extra strain on the struggling Americans who are trying to get back to work. The House-passed legislation puts a stop to this and also increases border and interior security.
Why are our senators siding with illegal immigrants and voting against legislation that is in the best interests of all Americans? I urge them to reconsider their position and vote in favor of HR 240 the next chance they have.
As Washington senators, we need them to tell us: Why are they voting to aid illegal foreign workers rather than American workers?
