Big Sky roundup: Montana outlasts Northern Colorado in triple overtime

Jordan Gregory knocked down a pair of free throws with 2.2 seconds left in the third overtime to lift Montana over Northern Colorado 83-81 on Saturday in Greeley, Colorado.

Montana trailed by three points in the final seconds of the second overtime when Gregory rebounded his own missed 3-point attempt and air balled another 3. But Martin Breunig tapped the missed shot back out to Brandon Gfeller, who nailed the game-tying 3-point attempt at the buzzer.

Gfeller had 21 points and Gregory had 20 to lead the Grizzlies, who moved into a second-place tie with Sacramento State.

Northern Colorado had its largest lead at 64-59 with 1:40 left in the first overtime.

The Bears trailed 33-18 late in the first half but had a 12-0 run midway through the second to tie it at 48.

Tevin Svihovec led the Bears with 23 points.

Montana State 80, North Dakota 78: Marcus Colbert scored 18 points, including a last-second game-winner, to lead the Bobcats over North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Tied at 78 in the final seconds of the game, Colbert’s driving layup was blocked by Quinton Hooker back into his own hands and he hit a turnaround jumper on the baseline as time expired.

Northern Arizona 61, Weber State 54: Quinton Upshur scored 20 points to lead the Lumberjacks over the Wildcats in Ogden, Utah. Joel Bolomboy scored 23 points and grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds to lead Weber State.

Southern Utah 71, Idaho State 67: A.J. Hess scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Thunderbirds past the Bengals in Pocatello, Idaho. Chris Hansen led the Bengals with 21 points.
