Girls basketball: Emily Drake’s 3-pointer lifts Greyhounds; Riley Lupfur leads LC past Chiawana

Emily Drake’s buzzer-beating 3-pointer gave Pullman a 56-54 upset of top-seeded East Valley in the District 7 2A title game at East Valley on Tuesday.

Drake hit five 3-pointers and finished with 23 points. Rebecca Wickard added 14 points and 13 rebounds for the Greyhounds (13-10). Pullman outscored the Knights (18-3) 19-10 in the fourth quarter.

East Valley’s Elle Burland and Skylar Bastin scored 12 and 10, respectively.

The win gave the Greyhounds the top seed to the subregional, while East Valley claimed the second seed. Both will play on Saturday.

4A subregional

Lewis and Clark 75, Chiawana 54: Riley Lupfur poured in 33 points and the Tigers (17-6) cruised past the Riverhawks in a loser-out game in Pasco. Michaela Kay added 16 points, including four 3-pointers, for LC. The Tigers had 18 assists on 31 made shots, and held a 40-24 rebounding advantage. LC’s Taylor Cunningham and Lyndzi Rich grabbed 10 rebounds apiece. The Tigers will play at Central Valley in a loser-out game on Friday.

District 7 1A

Lakeside 61, Medical Lake 19: Jocelyn Cook-Cox scored 15 points and Sienna Swannack added 12 points, six steals and four assists as the Eagles (20-1) opened the game on a 16-3 run and dumped the Cardinals (8-14) in a semifinal game at West Valley. Lakeside forced 26 turnovers and held Medical Lake to 18 percent shooting. Kelsey Jones added 10 points for the Eagles, who will play Colville in the district title game Friday at West Valley with a berth to the regional round of state on the line. Medical Lake’s Cassidy Hagel tallied a team-high 10 points. The Cardinals will play Chewelah in a loser-out game Friday at WV.

Colville 41, Chewelah 27: Megan Lee scored 19 points and Kennedy Zema added 11 as the Indians (13-9) held the Cougars (12-9) scoreless in the first quarter in a semifinal win at West Valley.

District 9 1B

Oakesdale 52, Liberty Christian 34: Jacey Johnson had 23 points and eight rebounds and the Nighthawks (14-8) pulled away after halftime and beat the Patriots in a loser-out game in Clarkston. Tatiana Mendoza added 10 points and nine rebounds for Oakesdale, who will play Pomeroy in another loser-out game Friday in Clarkston.

Pomeroy 53, St. John-Endicott 49: Kacey Halbert scored 19 of her game-high 25 points in the second half as the Pirates erased a 13-point halftime deficit and stunned the Eagles (8-13) in a loser-out game in Clarkston. Savannah Ruark added 11 points for Pomeroy.
