Four corners: Gonzaga Bulldogs
Coming up: Tonight at Pacific, 8 (KHQ); Saturday at Saint Mary’s, 7 (ESPN2)
Outlook: The Zags can nail down their 14th WCC title in 15 seasons this week. A win over last-place Pacific clinches at least a share of the championship; two wins guarantee an outright title. “If we want to be considered one of the best teams to come through here, we have to win the league,” coach Mark Few said, “because those teams before us did.” Pacific has dropped seven in a row, the last three by 15, 20 and 25 points. Guard T.J. Wallace is the only Tiger averaging double figures (13.4 ppg). Second-place Saint Mary’s, No. 58 in the RPI, needs a strong finish and a victory over Gonzaga to bolster its NCAA resume. Center Brad Waldow averages 20 points and 9.2 rebounds.
