Prep basketball: Selkirk, Cusick boys advance at district

Dominic Cain and Cole Dawson totaled 17 points and 10 rebounds apiece Wednesday in leading Selkirk to a 59-54 win over Odessa-Harrington in a loser-out game of the boys District 7 1B tournament at Deer Park.

The Rangers (14-9), who lost to O-H 46-43 on Jan. 24, hit 9 of 12 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to cement the win.

The Titans finished 12-11.

Selkirk will meet Cusick at 2:45 p.m. Saturday at DP for the third and final berth to the regional round of the state tournament.

Cusick 72, Wellpinit 53: Alec Bluff totaled 32 points and 15 rebounds, and Chad Browneagle added 14 points and 11 rebounds as the Panthers (14-9) eliminated the Redskins (17-6). Cusick lost to Wellpinit 89-78 on Jan. 9.

Girls

Wellpinit 37, Selkirk 32: Kyra Antone scored eight of her nine points in the first half as the Redskins (16-7) defeated the Rangers (10-14) in a loser-out game at DP. Wellpinit started to pull away in the third quarter after Adrianna Parr’s three-point play. Wellpinit will play Almira/Coulee-Hartline at 1 p.m. Saturday for the third and final berth to the regional round of the state tourney.

ACH 52, Valley Christian 26: Brenna Oliver scored nine of her 21 points in the second quarter to lead the Warriors (17-4) past the Panthers (4-18). ACH’s Caitlin O’Neil added eight rebounds.
