Four corners: Gonzaga Bulldogs
Coming up: Tonight vs. San Diego, 8 (ESPN2); Saturday vs. BYU, 7 (ESPN2)
Outlook: The Zags (28-1, 16-0 WCC) are pursuing their second unbeaten conference season in three years. GU went 16-0 in 2013. The Zags led by 22 before holding off San Diego 60-48 in late December. Senior guard Johnny Dee is the school’s all-time leading scorer, and running mate Christopher Anderson is the program’s all-time leader in assists and steals. The Toreros are tied for fifth with Portland. “They’re back to functioning well in a low-possession game and really trying to muck things up and keep the score down,” Gonzaga coach Mark Few said. San Diego’s Brett Bailey, a University High grad, averages 2.3 points and 2.6 rebounds. Chris Sarbaugh (Gonzaga Prep and North Idaho College) averages 3.4 ppg.
Third-place BYU, which trails Saint Mary’s by one game, is led by Tyler Haws, third in nation at 22.4 ppg, and Kyle Collinsworth, who set an NCAA record with five triple-doubles this season.
