Released The Detroit Lions released running back Reggie Bush on Wednesday after two seasons with the team. Last season, Bush finished with 76 carries for 297 yards and two touchdowns, and 40 catches for 253 yards. Bush was the No. 2 overall selection by the New Orleans Saints in the 2006 draft. In nine NFL seasons, he has 1,266 carries for 5,465 yards and 35 touchdowns.

• The Green Bay Packers released inside linebacker A.J. Hawk, cutting ties with the nine-year veteran. Hawk leaves Green Bay with 1,118 tackles, tops in the franchise since 1975. He appeared in 142 out of a 144 possible regular-season games since being drafted in the first round in 2006.

• The Baltimore Ravens parted ways with kick returner and receiver Jacoby Jones. The 30-year-old Jones played three seasons with Baltimore after a five-year run with the Houston Texans. He scored three postseason touchdowns during the Ravens’ Super Bowl-winning run in 2013.

• The New York Giants released running back Peyton Hillis. Hillis joined the Giants in October 2013. He played in the Giants’ first nine games in 2014 before suffering a season- ending concussion. He rushed for 115 yards and caught 10 passes.

Announced The College Basketball Invitational will use a 30-second shot clock to assist the NCAA in research on pace of play and scoring. The 16-team postseason tournament opens with games March 17 and 18. The NCAA currently uses a 35-second shot clock.

Chosen Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, has been selected to host the Presidents Cup in 2021. It will be the fifth golf course in the United States to host the biennial competition between the United States and players from every other country except Europe.

Aided German police helped American skier Lindsey Vonn get to Bulgaria for a World Cup event after she forgot her passport in Austria. Airport police issued Vonn an emergency travel document after she arrived in Munich for her flight to Sofia while her passport was in Salzburg.
