Poetry contest searches for children raised by relatives

Children raised by grandparents or other relatives are invited to participate in the Voices of Children Contest.

Children are invited to write a short essay, a poem or draw a picture that describes how living with a relative (a grandparent, an uncle or an aunt, a cousin) has made a positive difference in their lives.

Age categories are 5-7, 8-12 and 13-19 years old.

Participants must live in Washington.

Poems should be no longer than 21 lines and essays 200 words or fewer.

Written submissions must be original, in English and unpublished.

Art must be submitted on an official entry form which can be requested by emailing: Lynn@Familyess.org or by calling (360) 754-7629.

The deadline for submissions is April 1.
