North Idaho men edge Eastern Utah at Region 18 tourney

PRICE, Utah – Jamaal Robateau scored 19 points, Austin Pope added 17 and North Idaho nipped Eastern Utah 76-74 in the opening round of the Region 18 men’s basketball tournament Thursday afternoon.

Robateau was 11 for 12 from the free-throw line and pulled in eight rebounds as the Cardinals (22-7) bounced back from a five-point halftime deficit, outscoring the Golden Eagles 40-33 in the second half.

North Idaho faces Scenic West Athletic Conference co-champion Salt Lake Community College (25-5) tonight.

Andre Hogan led the Golden Eagles (11-17) with 14 points.

NIC’s Braian Angola-Rodas was named first-team All-Region 18. Jordan King of the Cardinals was named to the second team.
