UI football confirms USC, Auburn
Idaho releases rugged schedule for 2015 season
The University of Idaho and Sun Belt Conference released the 2015 football schedules this morning.
Idaho athletic director Rob Spear did a bit of work adjusting the non-conference schedule.
Originally slated to open the season at Southern California, the Vandals will now open on Thursday, Sept. 3, hosting Ohio before traveling to USC on Sept. 12.
The Vandals were then slated to head to Auburn the week after playing USC, but that game has been moved to the 11th game of the season on Nov. 21. Playing money games in November is common practice for SEC teams like Auburn, as losing conference games late in the season can be crippling for the College Football Playoff race.
Idaho, which plays three of its first four games at home, will play its first Sun Belt Conference game on Sept. 26, hosting defending-champion Georgia Southern.
The Vandals will also be hosting their first FCS opponent since Eastern Washington in 2012 when Wofford (South Carolina) visits the Kibbie Dome on Sept. 19.
Idaho will have a bye on Oct. 10, five games into the season.
Homecoming has not been announced.
All Sun Belt Conference games will be televised on an ESPN platform. Idaho’s guarantee games at USC and Auburn will also be televised, likely on the Pac-12 and SEC Networks.
