WCC men’s roundup: Saint Mary’s takes down Pepperdine for fourth straight win

Aaron Bright and Brad Waldow each scored 15 points and Saint Mary’s beat Pepperdine 68-59 on Thursday night in Malibu, California, for the Gaels’ fourth straight win.

Kerry Carter added 14 points and Desmond Simmons and Garrett Jackson 11 apiece for the Gaels (10-3, 3-0 West Coast Conference), who defeated the Waves for the 17th consecutive time.

Lamond Murray Jr. scored 11 points and Stacy Davis and Jeremy Major 10 apiece for the Waves (8-5, 1-1).

BYU 81, Santa Clara 46: Chase Fischer and Tyler Haws scored 14 apiece, and Kyle Collinsworth had 15 rebounds and six assists to lead the Cougars (12-4, 2-1) over the host Broncos (6-8, 1-2) in Santa Clara, California.

BYU opened the game with a 12-1 run and Santa Clara never recovered.

Brandon Clark led the Broncos with 12 points.

Pacific 77, Loyola-Marymount 63: David Taylor hit five 3-pointers and scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Tigers (9-6, 1-2) to a win over the Lions (4-10, 0-2) in Los Angeles.

Gabriel Aguirre matched his career high of 15 points for Pacific.

Evan Payne kept Loyola in striking distance by scoring 19 of his 27 points in the second half, hitting 5 of 6 shots all 10 free throws.

San Diego 57, San Francisco 56: Christopher Anderson scored nine points and the game-winning layup to help lead the Toreros (8-7, 1-2) to a comeback win against the Dons (7-8, 1-2) in San Francisco.

Mark Tollefson led USF with 14 points.
