Pedestrian expected to survive collision

A pedestrian hit by a car near the intersection of Division and Second Avenue Friday evening has improved and is expected to survive, according to police. The man in his 50s was not in a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing. The driver of the car that hit him around 6:30 p.m. told police she didn’t see him in time to stop. He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, but his condition had improved by 8 p.m., said Spokane Police Officer Ben Green. An accident investigation was done because of the severity of the man’s injuries, but the driver was not at fault, he said. “There’s no anticipated charges,” said Green. “It was just an accident.”
