Prize of $250,000 outstrips first big win

There’s luck. And then there’s crazy luck.

For the second time in 3 1/2 years Cindie Sawyer won a top Idaho Lottery prize. Her combined winnings: $350,000.

The Kingston woman had the winning ticket for $250,000 in the lottery’s 25th Anniversary Scratch Game, according to a Monday news release.

In 2011 she purchased a $100,000 winner.

“When I scratched the next ticket and saw that I won $250,000 I just couldn’t believe it. I took the ticket to work and looked at it under a magnifying glass just to make sure,” Sawyer said in a news release. “Then I called my husband and told him. Winning once was exciting, but to do it twice? Unbelievable.”

Sawyer bought both tickets from the Beamis-Hico convenience store in Wallace.

Semitruck crash snarls I-90 in Kellogg

A semitruck crash along an icy Interstate 90 bridge in Kellogg rained debris onto Division Street and damaged three cars.

The truck, driven by Dale Cummings, of Salmon, Idaho, hit a concrete barrier as he attempted to pass another semitruck, according to the Idaho State Police.

The crash tore the rear wheels from the trailer. The parts fell from the bridge onto the street below.

The truck rolled onto its side and blocked traffic for much of Monday morning. Troopers ticketed Cummings for inattentive driving.
