People: ‘Housewife’ begins 15 months in Connecticut clink

From Wire Reports

Teresa Giudice, the most famous “Real Housewife of New Jersey,” is now a resident of Connecticut. Just after 3 a.m. Monday, Giudice arrived at the Danbury Federal Correctional Institution in the back seat of a GMC Denali driven by her attorney. Giudice was sentenced to 15 months in prison after pleading guilty to mortgage and bankruptcy charges.

The 42-year-old reality TV star will serve her time at the minimum-security satellite camp for women on the FCI Danbury property, which also houses a low-security prison that is now used for men. The Danbury camp is where real-estate tycoon Leona Helmsley, singer Lauryn Hill and “Orange is the New Black” author Piper Kerman served time.

Giudice’s husband, Joe Giudice, was sentenced to three years and five months after pleading guilty to mortgage and bankruptcy charges, which he will serve after his wife is released. The couple have four daughters ages 5 to 13.

Trial ahead in Christmas Day stabbing

Dustin Diamond, the actor who played Screech on the 1990s television series “Saved by the Bell,” was ordered to stand trial Monday in the stabbing of a man at a Wisconsin bar on Christmas Day.

Diamond, 37, is charged with felony reckless endangerment and two misdemeanors stemming from the incident in Port Washington, about 25 miles north of Milwaukee. His defense attorney noted that no witnesses reported seeing Diamond stab the man, who wasn’t seriously hurt, but an Ozaukee County judge ruled there was enough evidence for the case to go to trial.

Diamond, who remains free on $10,000 bond, was granted permission to temporarily leave Wisconsin, where he lives, for work. Defense attorney Thomas Alberti said Diamond was working as a comedian and had shows scheduled outside the state.

Hemingway writes of pain, childhood

Mariel Hemingway has a lot to say about the pain of being a Hemingway.

Regan Arts announced Monday that the actress has a memoir and young adult novel coming in April. The memoir is called “Out Came the Sun” and has the sobering subtitle “Overcoming the Legacy of Mental Illness, Addiction, and Suicide In My Family.”

As noted by the publisher, seven members of the Hemingway family have committed suicide over the past four generations, notably author Ernest Hemingway, Mariel’s grandfather.

The novel is called “Invisible Girl” and is based on her childhood.
