Plans have been unveiled for a new open-air football stadium in St. Louis along the Mississippi River as the city ups its bid to either keep the Rams or lure a new NFL team.

The plan announced Friday said the stadium would cost at least $860 million. Private sources and seat licensing fees would pay for more than half, while other funding would come from tax credits and other public financing.

Concerns grew this week about the Rams’ future in St. Louis when it was announced owner Stan Kroenke is part of a venture building a stadium in Los Angeles.

NFL investigating Browns

NFL officials are investigating whether someone in the Cleveland Browns’ organization improperly sent text messages during games in violation of league rules.

An NFL spokesman confirmed the investigation and said the league was looking into whether the Browns violated rules governing coaching aids.

The rules prohibit smartphones and cellphones from being used in team areas, including sidelines and coaching booths from 90 minutes before kickoff and in locker rooms after kickoff. The restrictions on the devices end after games end.

‘Pacman’ loses $12.4M judgment appeal

The Nevada Supreme Court has upheld an order for Cincinnati Bengals defensive back Adam “Pacman” Jones to pay more than $12.4 million in damages in the shooting of two former Las Vegas strip club doormen, including one left paralyzed during a 2007 melee.

The justices upheld a trial judge’s decision to remove the NFL from the case, and rejected Jones’ contention that damage awards for Tommy Urbanski and co-worker Aaron Cudworth didn’t legally correspond to findings of liability.

Jones wasn’t the gunman, but Las Vegas police alleged he instigated a brawl.
