Economic spin cycle

Great column by Froma Harrop Dec. 27 documenting the stellar U.S. economy. Remember Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers and her Republican friends asserting certain economic failure with President Obama? Is she ignorant of basic economics or politically biased?

It reminds me of how every economic trend line showed the gross failure of the Bush/GOP/conservative tax cuts toward the failed economy of 2007-08, triggering the recession of such severity it extended into the next administration, decimating the middle class.

Under Obama, our economy leads the world. In years to come, Fox will spin the Obama recovery to dropping oil prices, which the 4 percent to 5 percent gross domestic product predated. Fox anchors/reporters bend themselves six ways crazy to continue to discredit the resounding economic success of Obama, only to pronounce the need for … tax cuts for the rich and corporations (good or bad, their denial system always insists on tax cuts for the rich).

So, now the naive have selected another crop of tax-cuts-for-the-rich GOP drones like McMorris Rodgers, who will drain the middle class to enrich corporations with failed trickle-down economic policies again. Will we ever get another Democratic president and Congress to save us from the brink? Will the press counter Fox, or just chronicle the next economic near-death cycle?
