Goodman should chill
Amy Goodman’s Jan. 2 attempt to portray anyone disagreeing with her agenda as an evil conspirator is another example of why progressives are losing their influence. Instead of engaging in an honest discussion as to what can be done, they attack everyone who disagrees with them, making a negotiated agreement impossible.
All I ever see is their continuing chant that all the scientific experts agree, which is supposed to show it is true. In 2006, all the financial experts agreed that mortgage-backed securities were triple-A safe investments. We saw how that turned out.
In any case, her side has already lost. She talks about a meeting in Paris while ignoring the one they just had in Peru where everyone agreed that China, the largest emitter, and the other developing nations could continue to increase their emissions for another 20 years because those countries refused to consider any reductions.
If her science is correct, then the 2-degree warming and associated climate changes are going to occur. The real issue is whether we severely damage our economy and reduce our standard of living as an empty gesture that won’t make any difference to the climate.
