Tamarack Public House opens downtown

There’s a new watering hole in downtown Spokane.

Tamarack Public House opened Monday after a soft launch last weekend. It features eight taps with craft beer, specialty cocktails, wine and pub fare.

Starters ($6 to $10) include house-roasted nuts, chilled prawns, and chips, salsa and guacamole. Sandwiches ($10 to $13) come with salad or chips and include a burger, bratwurst and lamb sliders. The forest mushroom focaccia pizza ($11) is a popular item. Entrees ($14 to $30) include baked polenta, a salmon filet with pecan tarragon butter and pork chop with apple-bourbon sauce.

The airy space features exposed brick walls, high ceilings and a second-floor, loft-like bar area with a few flat-screen TVs. Hours are 4 to 10 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. It’s open later – until “close” – Thursday through Saturday.

In its first week, there might still be a couple of kinks to work out. “Happy Time,” for example, runs from 4 to 5:30 p.m. according to the menu, and 4 to 6 p.m. according to the Facebook page. It features drink specials and 30 percent off menu items.

Tamarack Public House is located at 912 W. Sprague Ave. Call (509) 315-4846. On Facebook: www.facebook.com/ tamarackpublichouse.
