Women’s basketball: EWU posts seventh consecutive win

Eastern Washington pushed its winning streak to seven on Thursday night, cruising to a 101-54 Big Sky Conference victory over visiting Portland State.

The triple-digit point total was the third highest in team history for a regulation game.

Eastern (11-4, 4-0) scored 118 points in a win against Idaho State in 1985.

Lexie Nelson scored 22 points, Hayley Hodgins added 20 and Melissa Williams had 15, all in limited minutes, leading five Eagles in double digits.

The seven-game winning streak is the program’s longest since the 2009-10 season.

The Eagles also scored 60 first-half points, the most in a half during head coach Wendy Schuller’s 14-year tenure in Cheney.

Emily Easom led Portland State (3-13, 1-4) with 18 points.

Sacramento State 107, Idaho 89: Brooke Reilly (Mt. Spokane High) scored 27 points, and Ali Forde (17 points, 13 rebounds) and Christina Salvatore (10 points, 10 rebounds) each had double-doubles, but it wasn’t enough as the Hornets (6-10, 4-1) defeated the Vandals (7-8, 1-3) in Moscow, Idaho.
