Help, not harass

The protesters stationed outside the Planned Parenthood building spend their time harassing, yelling at and obstructing the entrance of people to the building. What do they really accomplish?

If there are three protesters four hours per day, four days a week, that’s 48 hours per week spent bothering patients, employees, volunteers and business associates who come to Planned Parenthood. These include people who receive counseling to help manage their reproductive health, birth control products, cancer screenings and referrals, Pap smears and other health care services, deliver bottled water and read the gas meter, more than 96 percent of visitors.

What if these people spent those hours volunteering at the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery to ensure children aren’t harmed? How about working with the Salvation Army at Sally’s House to help kids in foster care? Volunteer in a class so a child can learn to read better and succeed in school. Teach an adult literacy skills or financial management skills so they can better manage their life and make good choices for their children.

See the difference you can make rather than bothering folks who neither want nor deserve your obnoxious tactics. Do something useful with your life.
