Like parking crackdown

I read with great interest the article about fining people for handicap parking violations. The first ticket went to a woman with no legs? I have no legs, but I also possess a state-authorized parking placard that allows me to park. Where was hers?

I am glad that someone has what it takes to crack down on these violators. I wish there were more so inclined. It seems that the general consensus is that “there is no time to enforce this unneeded law,” “it’s on private property,” and on and on.

Being disabled, it is one of the hot-button issues for us. And this includes people who park in the hash marks. That is the loading zone, if you will, for people in wheelchairs and vans with wheelchair ramps.

I know of a place where the owner of the business not only thinks he can park in the handicap parking spot, but he also set up a barbecue in them. Setting a good example? Not.

Kudos to the enforcement people in Spokane. Keep up the good work.
