Area girls: Lakeside rolls to 12th consecutive win

Stefanie Marikis led a balanced attack on offense with 11 points and Lakeside extended its winning streak to 12 games with a 61-43 win over host Chewelah in a Northeast A League game Tuesday.

Ten players scored for the Eagles (13-1, 8-0), whose only loss came at home against East Valley on Dec. 5.

Sienna Swannack and Jocelyn Cook-Cox added nine points apiece for Lakeside and Shaye Swannack scored eight.

The Cougars’ Kaitlin Krouse tallied a team-high 11 points. Chewelah (6-8, 5-3) fell to third place in the NEA.

Freeman 42, Medical Lake 41: Sydney Sather hit a 3-pointer with 20 seconds left and the Scotties (4-9, 4-4) held on to defeat the host Cardinals (3-10, 3-5). Medical Lake erased a six-point halftime deficit and took a two-point lead late in the fourth before Sather’s winner. Freeman’s Cassidy Crosswhite and Megan Stark scored nine points apiece and Sather finished with eight. Cassidy Hagel and Maleeka Wagner scored 10 points each for the Cardinals.

Riverside 48, Deer Park 33: Allie Shannon and Julianna Trepanier combined for 23 points and the Rams (5-8, 4-4) pulled away after a competitive first half and beat the host Stags (0-14, 0-8). Savana Sitton tallied a team-high 10 points for Deer Park, which trailed by two at the break but was outscored 32-19 in the second half.

Colville 38, Newport 32: Megan Lee scored 10 of her team-high 12 points in the second half and the Indians (7-7, 6-2) outlasted the host Grizzlies (3-11, 2-6). Newport’s Lauren Vaughn scored 13 points.

Great Northern

Pullman 62, Clarkston 47: Emily Drake made three 3-pointers and 16 of 18 free throws and finished with 37 points in leading the Greyhounds (7-7, 3-3) past the host Bantams (5-9, 3-4). Pullman soared in the fourth, outscoring Clarkston 29-10.

West Valley 37, Cheney 26: Rachel McGlothlen scored 14 points and Erin Higbie added 10 points and 12 rebounds as the Eagles (6-8, 4-2) topped the host Blackhawks (5-10, 0-7). Cheney’s Kendyl Cone had 10 points and nine rebounds.

Northeast 2B

Northwest Christian 60, Liberty 39: Melissa Guske hit four 3-pointers and finished with 16 points, and Courtney Gray added 13 points and 10 rebounds as the Crusaders (14-1, 9-1) shook off a sluggish start and dumped the visiting Lancers (8-8, 3-7). The win was NWC’s fourth straight. Christine Denny had 16 points and 13 rebounds for Liberty, which has lost four of its last six games following a five-game December winning streak.

Southeast 1B

Colton 76, Oakesdale 46: Savannah Chadwick made six 3-pointers and scored 33 points as the Wildcats (15-0, 8-0) extended their winning streak to 59 with an easy win over the visiting Nighthawks (8-4, 5-2). Oakesdale’s Anne Hockett tallied a team-high 12 points.

Nonleague

Moscow 62, Priest River 42: Gracey Meyer scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and the Bears dominated early and eased past the host Spartans (12-5). Priest River’s Avery Summers and Elisa Williams scored 13 points apiece.

Kettle Falls 63, Northport 26: Taylor Dunlap, Makayla Hall and Erin Johnson scored 17 points apiece and the Bulldogs (7-8) dumped the visiting Mustangs (3-10).

• Clark Fork forfeited its North Star League game at Lakeside (Plummer) because the Wampus Cats didn’t have enough players.
