Obituary: Ellis, Michael Charles

Age 69

ELLIS, Michael Charles (Age 69) Michael Charles Ellis was born in Coventry, England on September 6, 1945 and died on January 15, 2015 in Spokane, Washington.

Mike is survived by his sisters Pam Bates (Mick) of the United Kingdom, Vivian Ellis of the United Kingdom, Barbara Spencer (Tony) of Alberta, Canada and brother Trevor Ellis (Caroline), also of the United Kingdom.

He is also survived by his late wife, Ruth’s children, Sherri McSwain, Cynthia Minard and Rick Minard.

Mike moved to the United States in the early seventies to pursue a mechanical career with Ryder, which lasted nearly 40 years.

He moved to Spokane in the mid-seventies and married Ruth Minard in 1989.

Mike was an avid fisherman and bird hunter.

He loved his hunting dogs, Albian and Yoshi.

He was a Nascar fan, only missing one race in 40 years and a loyal fan of Nascar driver, Kyle Busch.

He was also a hobby stock car racer and enjoyed numerous other interests with Ruth, including packing up their ‘68 “Caddy”, and going on mini-road trips.

Mike was a quiet man, deep thinker, meticulous and intentional in his plans.

He was a devoted husband and loyal friend and will be missed.

A memorial service will be held for Mike Ellis at Bethel Church of the Nazarene, 1111 S. Thor Street, Spokane, WA., at noon on Saturday, January 24th.
