Obituary: Weinand, Margaret Mary

Age 90

WEINAND, Margaret Mary (Age 90) Margaret Mary (Molitor) Weinand was called to the Lord on January 14, 2015.

She was born to Magdalene and Adolphe Molitor on February 20, 1924 in Walla Walla, Washington.

Her family moved to Pendleton, Oregon when she was a year old.

They did not stay long in Oregon and soon moved to Spokane.

The youngest of five children, she grew up in the Gonzaga neighborhood where she started her schooling at Holy Names Grade School.

She lived in a house across the street from Gonzaga University.

Margaret attended Holy Names Academy and then graduated Holy Names College where she received a degree in music.

She was a talented musician at a very young age and felt a calling to serve the Lord.

She later attended Gonzaga University and received an additional certificate in education.

Margaret was an elementary school teacher at Logan Elementary for a number of years.

She also taught piano for forty years to many young students.

In 1967 she married Joe Weinand and they belonged to Assumption Parish for forty- six years.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Annamarie and Delphine and her brothers John and Clement.

She was blessed with many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews and loved by all of them.

She was a talented seamstress, musician and homemaker.

She will be missed.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joe Weinand.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on January 23rd at 10:00 am at Assumption Parish with the burial following at Holy Cross Cemetery.
