Prep roundup: Mead forges 3-way tied for first in GSL wrestling

The Mead wrestling team knew it needed a win to keep pace in the Greater Spokane League standings.

The Panthers used two six-match streaks to defeat Shadle Park 59-7 Thursday at Mead High.

With the victory, the Panthers moved into a three-way tie with University and Central Valley atop the standings.

All three teams are 7-1, with Central Valley and University set to grapple Wednesday at CV.

After dropping the first match, the Panthers bounced back, thanks to victories from two state-ranked wrestlers.

Mead’s Tate LeClair (No. 6 in 4A) pinned Bryden Uyehara (No. 6 in 3A) in just less than 2 minutes. In the final match at 170, the Panthers’ Trevor Senn (No. 8) recorded a 14-7 decision over Stephan Babcock (No. 5).

Dilan Cronkhite’s 13-6 decision at 152 pounds opened up Ferris’ run, and Mt. Spokane couldn’t quite recover.
