Obituary: Fechner, Ronald Charles

Age 79

FECHNER, Ronald Charles (Age 79) Long term resident of Spokane peacefully passed to be with his Lord on January 16, 2015.

Born August 15, 1935 in Milltown, Montana to Emil and Cornelia Fechner.

Ron was the third of three children.

His siblings were older brother Don and one older sister Alice.

Ron married Sally, his high school sweetheart, on November 24, 1954.

The couple had three children and recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Ron spent several years in the National Guard at Fort Lewis in Washington state.

During that time he was employed by Western Pine as a sawyer and security guard.

In 1967 he was hired by the Washington Water Power Co. as a stationary engineer in the boiler room.

During his 26 year tenure he had several positions advancing to superintendent of the Central Steam Plant.

He was an active member of the community involved with several organizations.

These included the Industrial Inspectors and Engineers and Central Lions Club.

While president of the Lions from 1985 to 1986 he spearheaded numerous projects and fundraising efforts including installation of a commercial cooler for the beer gardens at the Spokane Interstate Fairgrounds.

Automobile restoration was his passion and his paint, body and mechanical skills were second to none.

Ron owned numerous classic cars throughout the years and had an eye for the rare and desirable models that are only found in private collections today.

Preceded in death by his parents, brother Don and sister Alice.

Survived by his wife Sally; oldest son Ron (Nancy); daughter Resa (Lori); youngest son Rick (Julie); grandchildren Kim Brady, Keith, Danae and Micah Fechner, Kayleena Spegal, Amber Cornwell and four great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Heritage Funeral Chapel with reception following.
