Man killed in crash near Maple Street Bridge identified

From staff reports
The Spokane County medical examiner has identified the man killed Sunday morning after his car went over the embankment near the south end of the Maple Street Bridge as Chancer M. Prouty, 24. His birthday was Jan. 24, according to voter records, the day before the collision. Prouty’s cause of death was traumatic dismemberment from multiple blunt injuries, according to a news release. Police said Prouty was thrown out of his car around 1:30 a.m. Sunday after driving over the embankment near Riverside and Maple streets. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Friends have organized a candlelight vigil 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the site of the crash to remember Prouty and are posting photos and memories on a memorial page.
