Obituary: Jay, Claudina Rose

JAY, Claudina Rose (Age 75) Passed away 1/21/2015 in Post Falls, ID.

Claudina was born 2/26/1939 in Bozeman MT to Laurence and Lorraine Christie.

Claudina had several nicknames, primarily Rose and then Dina.

She grew up in Bridger Canyon, Montana, the third of five children.

She was one of the last students to attend a one room school house.

Her early life was busy helping keep the Christie Holstein Dairy Ranch running.

After graduating High School, she bravely traveled alone to the BIG CITY of Spokane, WA.

There she graduated Kinman Business College.

While in Spokane, she met her future husband, John Jay.

They moved to their present house in 1970.

There she raised Steve, Lisa, and Rick all while working many years as a pre-school teacher.

She loved children.

She was especially happy when she could watch the grand- children.

Her face lit up when the opportunity arose to take care of one or all of the four grandchildren.

She could outlast any of them at any of the games they wished to play.

Christmas was her favorite time of year decorating the house and hosting Christmas Eve with all the kids and grandkids.

It was always a special night.

She loved camping, especially at Priest Lake during huckleberry picking time.

She could pick a gallon of berries faster than anyone around.

Throughout her life she raised a garden and grew roses.

Lots of roses.

It did not matter what color or variety, she loved them all.

Her yard was alive with color every summer.

Her legacy to the present is that a memory of her always brings a smile to the face, warmth to the heart, a feeling of quiet peace, and a kindness in the soul.

She is survived by her husband, three children, four grand- children, and two great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to Post Falls Guardian Angels and Hospice of North Idaho for their special care of Claudina in the past few months.

There will be a memorial service on Friday January 30th at 2:30 PM at the Pines Cemetery at 12116 E. 16th.

It is at the corner of Pines and 16th in the Spokane Valley.

The service will be held at the Mausoleum on the south side of 16th.

Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 910 West 5th Avenue, Spokane, WA 99204 (509) 473-3390.
