NBA: Kyrie Irving matched his season high with 38 points and LeBron James added 32 to lift Cleveland to its seventh straight victory, 103-95 at Detroit.

The Cavs avenged a 23-point home loss to Detroit late last month. That game was part of a seven-game winning streak for the Pistons, but now Detroit is struggling to overcome the loss of Brandon Jennings, who ruptured his left Achilles tendon last weekend and will miss the rest of the season.

Rose connects to snap Warriors’ streak: Derrick Rose hit a step-back jumper with 7 seconds remaining in overtime, and visiting Chicago ended Golden State’s franchise-record 19-game home winning streak with a thrilling 113-111 victory.

Rose dribbled to his left and created space to get the shot off over Klay Thompson, skipping around the court after the Warriors called timeout. Rose finished with 30 points, and his final basket overshadowed a night when he committed a career-high 11 turnovers and made just 13 of 33 shots.

Bucks knock off Heat: Brandon Knight had 17 points and six assists and visiting Milwaukee put seven players in double figures on the way to beating Miami 109-102.

Toronto whips slumping Indiana: DeMar DeRozan scored 24 points and Kyle Lowry added 19, leading Toronto to a 104-91 victory over Indiana at Indianapolis.

Rodney Stuckey scored 22 points and Solomon Hill finished with 15 to lead Indiana, which has lost eight of nine.

Xavier completes sweep of Hoyas

College men: Myles Davis scored 19 points in his third start of the season, and Xavier (14-7, 5-4 Big East) held No. 21 Georgetown (14-6, 6-3) without a field goal for more than 11 minutes in the first half in a 66-53 victory at Washington that completed a sweep of the Hoyas.

Oklahoma State upsets No. 20 Baylor: Phil Forte scored 16 points and Le’Bryan Nash added 13 to help Oklahoma State (14-6, 4-4 Big 12) defeat No. 20 Baylor (15-5, 3-4) 64-53 at Stillwater, Oklahoma.

West Virginia posts road win: Tarik Phillip matched a career-high 12 points and West Virginia (17-3, 5-2 Big 12), relying on its high-pressure defense, shut down Kansas State (12-9, 5-3) for a 65-59 victory at Manhattan, Kan.

The Mountaineers forced the Wildcats into 25 turnovers while holding them to 36 percent shooting from the field.

No. 14 VCU routs George Washington: Freshman Terry Larrier scored 15 points and No. 14 Virginia Commonwealth (17-3, 10-0 Atlantic 10) pulled away with a 16-2 run early in the second half to beat George Washington (16-5, 6-2) at Richmond, Virginia, for its 12th consecutive victory.

Mayweather Jr. and Pacquiao finally meet

Miscellany: Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao have finally met – in person.

And now talks might get serious about them meeting in the ring.

The fighters were both sitting courtside, directly across from one another, at a Miami Heat game on Tuesday night. Mayweather went over to Pacquiao at halftime, the men shook hands and chatted briefly, then exchanged phone numbers.

“He gave his number to me and said we will communicate with each other,” said Pacquiao, adding that he had never before met Mayweather in person.

Sharper’s hearing scheduled Feb 17: A preliminary hearing for former NFL All-Pro safety Darren Sharper on charges that he drugged and raped two women he met at a West Hollywood nightclub has been tentatively set for Feb. 17.

Vickers cleared to drive: Brian Vickers says he is eager to get back on the racetrack and prove to everyone he still has what it takes to win Sprint Cup races following open heart surgery last month.

He has been given a clean bill of health to begin racing March 8 at Las Vegas.

Detroit beats Florida for 6th straight win

Hockey: Luke Glendening scored twice and Stephen Weiss had a goal and two assists against his former team to lift Detroit over Florida 5-4 at Sunrise, Florida, for its sixth straight victory.

The Red Wings have won eight of nine.

Andersen, Ducks blank Canucks: Frederick Andersen had to make only 17 saves for the third shutout of his career as visiting Anaheim defeated Vancouver 4-0. The Ducks have won six straight and eight of nine.

Pedators stay hot at home: Craig Smith scored on a breakaway at 2:46 of overtime and host Nashville beat Colorado 4-3. The Predators pushed the NHL’s best home record to 19-2-1.
