Signed Cuban OF Dian Toscano and the Atlanta Braves agreed to a $6 million, four-year contract. The 25-year-old batted .356 during the 2012-13 season for Villa Clara in Cuba. His deal includes a $1.2 million signing bonus. OF Jose Constanza was designated for assignment.

• Infielder Gordon Beckham agreed to a $2 million, one-year contract with the Chicago White Sox, who cleared a roster spot by designating OF Dayan Viciedo for assignment. Beckham is a career .245 hitter. The 25-year-old Viciedo hit .231 with 21 homers and 58 RBIs in 2014.

Hired The Denver Broncos added Wade Phillips as new head coach Gary Kubiak’s defensive coordinator. Phillips was Kubiak’s defensive coordinator in Houston from 2011-13 and replaced him as interim coach when Kubiak was fired by the Texans in December 2013. Phillips has also served as head coach of the Saints, Cowboys, Falcons, Bills and Broncos

• The Arizona Diamondbacks hired Joe Carter as special assistant to general manager Dave Stewart. Carter and Stewart played together for two seasons with Toronto, including the Blue Jays’ 1993 World Series championship team.

• Montana’s volleyball program named former Utah State assistant Brian Doyon as the team’s coach. He takes over for Jerry Wagner, who resigned after nine seasons and a 102-147 record.

Acquired The New York Red Bulls acquired 29-year-old American midfielder Sacha Kljestan on a transfer from Belgium’s Anderlecht. Kljestan has four goals in 46 international appearances and also scored twice at the 2008 Olympics. Purchased Racing mogul Tony Stewart purchased the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprint Car Series, one of the oldest, traveling winged sprint car tours in the country. Stewart also reached a separate deal with the principals of the Renegade Sprint Series that will merge both series together under the All Star Circuit of Champions banner beginning this year.
