WSU Cougars
Coming up: Today vs. Cal, 8 p.m. on Pac-12; Saturday vs. Stanford, 5:30 p.m. on Pac-12.
Outlook: Washington State will try to end a three-game skid against a slumping California team and pick up Ernie Kent’s first Pac-12 sweep as the WSU coach. Kent’s first conference win with the Cougars came at Cal in early January and that victory propelled the Cougars to consecutive wins over Washington and Oregon. WSU stumbled against three physical teams but can right itself with a win over a Cal team that has lost six consecutive games. Against Stanford, the Cougars will face a team that appears likely to finish No. 3 in the Pac-12 behind front-runners No. 6 Arizona and No. 11 Utah. The Cardinal are led by a dynamic backcourt that includes one of the conference’s best scorers in Chasson Randle (20.2 points per game) and best shooters in Anthony Brown (47 percent on 3-pointers).
