Teen has tricks up his sleeve

Isaiah Daniels brings his illusions to the Bing tonight.
Our Weekly Pick For Families

Isaiah Daniels can’t remember a time before he was doing magic.

“It’s literally something I’ve been doing forever,” the 17-year-old said. “I was just born with a deck of cards in my hand.”

Daniels will be bringing his show, “Trickery: An Evening of Magic,” to the Bing Crosby Theater tonight.

“The audience is going to have lots of laughs and lots of moments of disbelief,” he said.

There will be illusions and audience participation, including Daniels levitating an audience member. “I think the audience is going to be on the edge of their seats.”

Daniels is a junior at Gonzaga Prep. He said he’s a self-taught magician, learning lots from books and occasionally getting advice from other magicians.

His favorite trick planned for tonight is the straight-jacket escape. “It’s not something a lot of people get to see in person, and not very many people do it,” he said. “Being able to escape from a straight-jacket, at least to me, is cool.”

Daniels said people should “come to the show with your skepticism in your pocket and enjoy.” Even if you’re not fooled, “you’ll be entertained.”
