GSL Boys basketball: Central Valley, Lewis and Clark remain tied at the top

Four turnovers and 10 3-pointers allowed the Central Valley boys basketball team to remain tied atop the Greater Spokane League standings.

The efficient Bears were too much for the visiting Ferris Saxons, 60-45, Friday.

CV (14-4 overall, 12-4 GSL) outscored the Saxons (6-12, 3-12) 32-23 in the second half.

Tanner Sloan had 19 points including five 3-pointers and Cameron Tucker had 19 points including four 3-pointers for CV. Justis Simmons added 16 points.

No Saxon reached double figures.

Lewis and Clark 61, North Central 42: The Tigers (14-4, 12-4) kept pace with CV, using a 17-4 start to ease past the Indians (2-16, 1-15) at NC. Naje Smith had 14 points, Isaiah Hernandez 11 and Adam Thompson 10 for LC. Riley Smith led NC with 13 and Noah Higley had 11.

Rogers 65, Shadle Park 58: The Highlanders (11-7, 9-7) got out to a 20-12 lead, but they couldn’t make it stand. Rogers (12-6, 11-5), which completed a sweep of Shadle, outscored the Highlanders 36-22 in the second half. Melik Hampton led the Pirates with 17 points and 10 rebounds and Robert Rucker added 16 points. George Pilimai led the Highlanders with 23 points.

Gonzaga Prep 61, Mt. Spokane 39: Leading 28-19 at halftime, the Bullpups (12-6, 11-5) outscored the visiting Wildcats (1-16, 1-14) 21-7 in the third quarter to blow the game open. Logan Adams led the Bullpups with 15 points and Kea Vargas had 11 to go with six assists. Devin Culp also had 14 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots.

University 54, Mead 53: The Titans (13-5, 11-5) had to use nearly all of a 13-point first-quarter margin as University held off a late Panthers rally. Robert Little led the Titans with 14 points and six rebounds, Dray White had 12 points and Spencer Matt added 11. Max Hess led the Panthers (10-8, 8-8) with 19 points and Josh Richter added 12.
