Levy, bond won’t raise taxes
Please join me in voting yes for kids and Spokane’s future on or before Feb. 10. Whether you have children or not, strong schools are key to a thriving community. Employers look for communities that support their schools, so jobs get created and our local economy benefits. Young professionals (including those who grew up here and want to return) are more likely to choose to live in Spokane if jobs are here and schools are strong for their children. Kids who are motivated and engaged at school have the tools for creating a positive future.
The levy makes up nearly a quarter of the operating budget of Spokane Public Schools and is not a new tax. It will help reduce class sizes, add technology and textbooks, pay for transportation and contribute to funding special education, music, art, drama, debate and athletics.
The school bond replaces the previous one without raising taxes. It is part of a long-term plan to continue replacing and/or renovating Spokane’s oldest and least-efficient schools. One needed upgrade is in safety and security. The state matches some of the bond funds.
Vote yes for schools and help make Spokane a success.
