Education notebook: Brennan is new principal at Salnave

Cheney Public Schools has hired Celina Brennan as the principal of Salnave Elementary School. Brennan previously taught at Salnave for nine years.

Brennan graduated from Eastern Washington University in 2002 with a degree in education. In 2010, she received her master’s degree at Whitworth University. She recently completed EWU’s principal certification program.

Brennan begins her role as principal this month and is replacing Dr. Debbie Maurus, who is retiring after 13 years as principal of Salnave.

Emert gets full ride to Northwestern U

Cheney High School senior Keith Emert has been admitted to Northwestern University and has received a full-ride QuestBridge National College Match scholarship.

QuestBridge is a national organization that connects students from low-income backgrounds with admission and full scholarships to selective schools.
