In brief: Tiger Woods four strokes back after shooting 66 at Greenbrier

Golf: Tiger Woods has rebounded from a dismal U.S. Open with a 4-under-par 66 in the opening round of The Greenbrier Classic in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.

Helped by Thursday’s morning rain that softened the Old White TPC course, Woods posted his lowest score of the season and matched his best in relation to par.

Woods was four shots behind Scott Langley, who shot 62. Jonathan Byrd and Danny Lee each shot 63. Brian Davis and Ryo Ishikawa had 64s. Ferris grad Alex Prugh shot a 71.

St. Louis hangs up skates after 16 years

NHL: New York Rangers forward Martin St. Louis is retiring after 16 NHL seasons and seven All-Star selections.

St. Louis had 391 goals and 642 assists in 1,134 regular season games with the Calgary Flames, Lightning and Rangers. He won the Stanley Cup with Tampa Bay in 2004.

• Voynov enters plea: Los Angeles Kings defenseman Slava Voynov has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor stemming from a domestic violence incident with his wife after a Halloween party.

Under terms of the plea deal, he was sentenced to a 90-day jail term and three years of probation. The plea averts a trial on a felony count.

Aussie coach Walsh killed at home

Miscellany: Phil Walsh, the 55-year-old coach of the Adelaide Crows in the Australian Football League, was killed in a domestic dispute at his home. His 26-year-old son has been arrested and charged with murder.
