Missing Georgia zoo tiger found dead

Associated Press

TBILISI, Georgia – Workers cleaning up after the flood that destroyed the zoo in Georgia’s capital found the carcass of the last missing tiger on the grounds of a swimming complex.

Tbilisi zoo director Zuraba Gurielidze told journalists that the tiger found Sunday was the last of the animals missing after raging floodwaters inundated their enclosures three weeks ago.

The flooding killed more than half of the zoo’s 600 animals, including about 20 tigers, lions and jaguars.

The flooding also killed 19 people in the former Soviet republic.
