Spokane Valley Chamber looking for big ideas

The Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce has launched its “Big 5 for the Greater Spokane Valley” campaign, seeking to identify five measurable goals for the Valley area.

Chamber CEO Katherine Morgan said it’s an inclusive process utilizing an online town hall format.

“Anyone who lives, works or plays in the greater Spokane Valley area can participate in the survey,” Morgan said. “It doesn’t matter if you are a chamber member or not.”

Participants can simply go to www.spokanevalleychamber.org and sign up.

During the first stage of the campaign, participants are asked three questions:

• What do they appreciate about the greater Spokane Valley area?

• What do they perceive as obstacles for the greater Spokane Valley area?

• For what do they believe Spokane Valley should be nationally recognized?

Morgan said the answers are anonymous, but participants are asked for an email address so they can receive a list of all the ideas generated.

“On July 27, we will email them the list and ask them to mark the ideas they like,” Morgan said.

The five ideas or goals with the biggest support will be revealed on Sept. 25 at a chamber meeting.

“One good thing about this is that when the first idea is done, then we already have another one ready to go,” Morgan said. “We will not have to go through the process again anytime soon.”
