Yelling at officers can incite

The Washington Supreme Court says it’s OK to yell abusive language at our law enforcement officers. Now, in certain cases, yelling abusive, indecent and antagonistic language can also be a way to incite violence. What happened to the respect that our officers deserve?

They didn’t just show up. Someone called to report a juvenile out of control. Their job obviously was to make calm the situation, or take the juvenile into custody. The young man casting insults and yelling abusive language only added to the confusion and escalated the possibility of violent action from both sides. I personally think he should have been taken into custody for attempting to incite a riot.

It appears as if the court has lost touch with reality. Maybe the justices need to see how the other half live. How many of them have been out on the street in the neighborhoods these officers go through every day? If you don’t live in it, how can you make wise decisions pertaining to it. If we are to have law enforcement, then we as a community must learn to have a symbiotic relationship with these officers. We must learn to communicate in order to find that level spot on the scale of justice.
