Area roundup: Shadow win 6th in row, Alivia Brown falls in PNGA final

Chance Bukoski and Brady Ulen scored to rally Spokane to a 2-1 victory over the Wenatchee Capitals at Spokane Falls CC to extend the Shadow’s win streak to six games and leave them two points out of first place in soccer’s Evergreen Premier League.

Bukoski tied the match at 1-all on a penalty kick in the 35th minute. Ulen finished off a loose ball following a free kick six minutes into the second half.

Yonatan Rodriguez scored the lone goal for Wenatchee (5-5-2) in the 24nd minute.

Spokane played a man down in the final six minutes after Kyle Higgins’ second yellow card.

The Shadow (8-1-2) trail South Sound (8-1-4) by two points but have three games left to the Shock’s one. 

Golf

New Zealander Brooke Hamilton sank an 8-foot birdie putt to take the 36th hole for a 1-up victory over Washington State golfer Alivia Brown of Gig Harbor, Washington, and win the 114th Pacific Northwest Women’s Amateur Championship at BanBury GC in Eagle, Idaho.

Brown won the 32nd and 33rd holes to re-take the lead, but Hamilton won the 34th to square the match, leading to her birdie putt on the 36th hole for the win.  

Spokane native Lani Elston of Milwaukie, Oregon, edged defending champion Amanda Jacobs of Seattle 1-up to win the 14th Pacific Northwest Women’s Mid-Amateur, also at Banbury.
