Give and Take: Letters

Blanchette too soft on WSU

Mr. Blanchette’s article regarding the firing of Bud Nameck is spot on, but a bit too gentle.

This smells of Bill Moos. Instead of having people who bleed crimson, all he wants is people who bleed green, and large amounts of it.

Mr. Nameck and Mr. Robertson are class acts, with deep roots to the area, service to the communities of Eastern Washington, and excellent technical broadcast announcers.  Now my radio will be off as well as my TV (I won’t pay for the Pac-12 Network) when it comes to Cougar games; I can read about their $3 million football coach’s latest loss in the Spokesman and only waste a few minutes.

Wrecks ruining NASCAR

I enjoy watching a variety of auto-race series, Formula One, sports cars, off-road, etc.

What concerns me about NASCAR is that the “excitement” appears to center around the anticipation of accidents.  It’s not uncommon for over half the cars in a race to be damaged.

Quizzically, Formula One cars have no windshield but race in the rain, NASCAR races cars with windshields, but do not race in the rain.

It’s no wonder NASCAR fans are rapidly dwindling.
