Shock reinstate Samuel Charles after $500 fine, counseling

One of two Spokane Shock players has had his theft charge dismissed after he paid a fine and attended counseling. However, a second player charged in the case has been cut from the team.

The Shock last week released lineman Mark Jackson and reinstated receiver Samuel Charles. Both were charged with petit larceny after a security video showed Jackson taking money from three purses inside a Las Vegas lounge and handing some of the money over to Charles.

The incident occurred May 23 after the Shock defeated the Outlaws 63-56. Both players were placed on Arena Football League suspension on June 5.

Since that time, Charles forfeited a $500 bond and attended petit larceny counseling. As a result, his misdemeanor charge has been dismissed, said Tess Driver, the executive assistant to the Clark County District Attorney’s Office in Las Vegas.

Jackson, who was released from the team last week, faces a hearing on Thursday where his attorney will attempt to have his arrest warrant quashed, Driver said.
