Missing vehicle was just misplaced

Report of stolen auto later retracted

Two vehicles were recently reported stolen in Liberty Lake, but it turned out that one of them wasn’t missing after all.

A woman called Liberty Lake Police on July 8 to report her vehicle had been stolen from the Liberty Lake Park and Ride lot sometime during the day. The woman said she may have accidentally locked the keys inside the car since she couldn’t find them.

On July 9, a man called police to report a car stolen from the 500 block of North Garry Road. However, he called back a short time later and told police that he’d forgotten he left his car in Spokane Valley the night before and it had not been stolen.

Other calls from July 6-13

July 7: A person in the 1100 block of North Liberty Lake Road turned over a purse that had been left at the location months prior. The owner of the purse has since died. A bicycle reportedly worth $900 was reported stolen from the Park and Ride lot in the 1400 block of North Meadowwood Lane.

July 8: A man and a woman were reportedly arguing in the 23000 block of East Mission Avenue. When police arrived, the man had collapsed and was lying on the sidewalk. He told medics that he hadn’t eaten all day and had been out in the sun.

July 10: A person in the 23000 block of East Mission Avenue reported that a golf ball had hit and broken their windshield.

July 12: A tourist from Canada reported that his debit card had been fraudulently charged $5,000 in Cambridge, Idaho.

Arrests: Police made two arrests for driving with a suspended license.

Citations: Police officers handed out multiple citations for driving without a license with identification, failure to show proof of liability insurance, following too close, speeding, use of a cellphone and unlawfully driving on the roadway.
