Injury besmirches Hoopfest

Hoopfest, a wonderful idea, recently came to a close. But, apparently, an undesirable element has invaded this great community event, and they have no real connection to it.

The irresponsible party-hardy atmosphere has produced an innocent causality, a former U.S. Navy SEAL who was working as a tavern security guard during the mayhem. In the prime of his life, his diagnosis is uncertain. This is a veteran who had recently pledged his life to his country.

The irony here: A brave, selfless veteran who had been previously inserted into extremely dangerous combat zones that he survived through his training, skills, fitness and intellect is cut down and hospital-bound in Spokane, his hometown. It is questionable as to if and when he will be fully functional.

When veterans (or anyone) are being cut down during Hoopfest, we have to take action and restore sanity to our city. We can only hope and pray that this fine young man and former SEAL will be completely restored to health as well.
