Victory moves Shadow into first place, EPLWA title within grasp

EVERETT – Four Shadow players scored as Spokane beat the Seattle Stars 4-1 Saturday for its seventh straight win to take over first place in Evergreen Premier League soccer.

The Shadow (9-1-2) have 29 points to 28 for South Sound (8-1-4). The Shadow have two more matches to South Sound’s one and can clinch their second straight league title with a win at Bellingham today.

Spokane’s Kazuki Tateishi had the only first-half goal in Saturday’s match, scoring in the 35th minute. Seattle’s Ramon Ramos was sent off with his second yellow in the 15th.

After Seattle tied the match in the 54th, a pair of halftime subs gave Spokane the lead when JD Hauenstein found Jonathan Cortez in the 68th for a 2-1 lead.

Anthony Mota made its 3-1 from 14 yards out on a ball from Hauenstein in the 77th. Chance Bukoski scored with a 50-yard run and 10-yard finish with 4 minutes remaining.
