Obituary: Pokstefl, Alene

Age 95

POKSTEFL, Alene (Age 94) Passed away peacefully July 11, 2015.

Alene was born the youngest of four children to Charles and Minnie Hoag (Bricker) on July 31st, 1920.

Her parents were granted a homestead in Worley, Idaho where Charles was the very first postmaster.

Alene graduated from Worley High School in 1939 and married Karl Pokstefl January 6, 1941.

They resided in Cicero, Illinois for over 40 years.

Alene worked during WWII riveting planes for the military, just like “Rosie the Riveter”.

She loved to travel, collect rocks and press leaves and she was a champion bowler.

Alene moved to Spokane to care for her sister, Maxine Koch (Hoag) in the early ‘90s.

Alene and Karl will both be remembered and held in a special place in the hearts of their great and great-great nieces and nephews for the wonderful times spent with them, especially during their childhood years.

Alene and Karl would treat them to fun and amazing experiences like trips to the zoo, various museums, digging for arrow heads and adventures in rock hunting.

These were wonderful and enriching times that will be remembered forever.

Alene was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and her husband.

She is survived by nieces, Carol Buffa of Riverside, IL, Martha Hendricks of Bremerton, WA, June Trapp of San Diego, CA; nephews, Harley Dale Hoag of Claremont, CA, Dennis Koch of Spokane, WA, Charles W. Hoag of Fredericksburg, TX, Lyle N. Hoag Jr., of Carmichael, CA and several great and great-great-nieces and nephews.

There will be a family memorial service at the Worley homestead as were Alene’s wishes.
