Bandits, Mt. Spokane stay alive in state American Legion baseball

Two Spokane entries in the state American Legion baseball tournaments still have the prize in sight.

In the AAA tournament at Bellingham, the Bandits defeated Pepsi-Pak 5-4 on Sunday. In the bottom of the ninth, with runners on first and second and two outs, David Mickey drew a walk to load the bases. Dawson Pate and Jermaine Ducham (walk-off) had back-to-back RBI-HBPs to win the game. The Bandits had not scored since the first inning when Johnny Sage’s two-run double helped them forge a 3-3 tie.

The Bandits play Bellingham Post 7 in a loser-out game at 3 p.m. today.

The Northstars were eliminated on Sunday, losing 4-0 to the Kennewick Outlaws.

In the AA tournament in Olympia, Mt. Spokane scored the last nine runs of the game to defeat Lake Stevens 9-3. Mt. Spokane plays FM Sports at noon today.

Gonzaga Prep lost 6-5 to Mt. Vernon.
